Sally Morgan in Bournemouth
Last night, me and the Bird had a night out at the Pavillion Theatre in Bournemouth. We went to see Sally Morgan, Psychic to the Stars who is currently on tour. The theatre was packed out so it was a bit sardines.
Also in the audience with us were some of the ladies from my Meditation group – they made their own way there and sat behind us with the leader C. - out the way!
Sally was entertaining and had a completely different approach to any of the other mediums I had seen. Firstly and noticeably different was that she had a production crew. The stage dressing was slick and there were two cameras operating, with the usual team members dotted around with radio mics.
Sally, aged 57, was exactly as she was on TV – if anything she looked a lot slimmer in real life. She was a bubbly lady and full of lovey dovey remarks for the people she read. As C. pointed out to me at interval, Sally was, at least, prepared to have a go at names and get them right, unlike other psychics we had seen who were a little vague at times. As C. put it – if they can get all this information, why can they at least get a name to make sure the right person gets the message!
During the two sessions there were, frankly, a lot of no’s coming from the people claiming the messages in the audience. There were a lot of random pieces of information and there were a lot of direction changes in some of her readings. On one particular occasion she spoke of a baby that was split between two parents. This eventually turned out to be an unborn baby with an external kidney growing. She managed to claim she was right, claiming the split to be the forthcoming operation! Pretty weak connection.
On another occasion she was speaking to a man in the audience and predicted that he was going to have a new baby daughter. He ended her reading by advising her that indeed he was getting married – well actually a civil partnership as he was gay! Sally made a joke of it and, as she had done all night, quickly moved on to the next reading and finishing by saying ” wasn’t that a nice message?” – NO!
But that is all the bad stuff out of the way. Yes she did miss a lot of the time and yes some of her readings were feeble in content but in fairness to her, there were also a lot that were accurate. I also got the impression that a few of the readings were being claimed by people that were desperate to be picked on. Once, she would mention the name Roy, who was coming through and lots of hands went up around the place claiming it. Come on – there were probably close to a thousand people there. Pick any common name you like and there will be people knowing someone that has moved on with that name. I am not disputing her message. I’m highlighting the desperation some of the audience showed to be read by her.
“I’m not being cynical – just honest. It can be quite embarrasing watching people that actually don’t need a psychic reading . . . . they need councilling!”
Sally was very good though and it was an entertaining evening. There were some ’spooky’ moments when her accuracy stood out. The audience loved her and she certainly has a stage presence.
In conclusion – my spirits were not dampened, so to speak. Sally was good fun and very friendly. Our C. suggested that Sally was the type of medium that was probably incredible in a one-to-one situation, but not necessary so good in a crowd environment. For me, I think she again was evidence of how polished the editing is on these type of shows on TV. You don’t see the hesitations, the guesses that are wrong, the probing and the negative responses. Obviously all that is removed and this creates the impression that every word a medium humbles is accurate and powerful and that is certainly not the case at all.
It was a good night out, though arguably pricey at £40 for the two of us and on a sunday night with work the next morning!! I’m not sure that I would rush to see her again in a theatre environment again. She was not as good as Colin Fry, or for that matter TJ Hicks. However, she was still a thousand times more accurate and entertaining than Mia Dolan was.
There are two major name mediums in this country remaining that I want to see. One is Tony Stockwell who has a phenominal reputation and the other is Derek Acorah. I would not have wanted to see the latter if it had not been for the man sat next to me at the Pavillion last night. He was talking of those he had seen and Derek was one. He told me that Derek came amongst the audience and really got involved with them when he seen him. Apparently, according to this man, Derek was extraordinarily accurate and amazing to watch. So maybe I will have to see himafter all – though I feel I may be going alone!
